Since the founding of our company, it has been a Semperlux tradition to think about the "time-after" when designing and manufacturing a luminaire.
Ecological considerations are an inherent part of se`lux product development and manufacture: optimized efficiency of the product in operation, minimization of the use of material and energy, as well as the controlled production of emissions and waste, easy maintenance and a long life.
The modular design of all exterior and interior luminaires facilitates waste separation and ensures that there is practically no electrical waste.
1991
With regard to energy consumption, Semperlux sets great store by the careful use of natural resources. Together with the Technical University of Berlin, we were presented the "Berlin Environment Award" for the dimmable, HF electronic ballast.
2001
The ARTHELIO project focusses on intelligent, energy-optimised systems based on the combination of daylight and artificial light. In cooperation with the institute for electronics and lighting engineering at the Technical University of Berlin, Semperlux AG have developed a powerful heliostat that is installed on the roof of the Semperlux administration building. The heliostat absorbs and concentrates 100 000 lumen - the equivalent of the luminous flux produced by 240 x 40 W lamps - and directs the daylight into the windowless stairwell below the section of the roof.
Should there not be sufficient sunlight available, because the sky is overcast, or it is dusk or night time, the light from a computer-controlled, dimmable 1000 W sulphur lamp (Fusion Lighting, USA) is added to the daylight available. The sulphur lamp has a luminous efficacy of 100 lumens per watt, and is therefore able to achieve a lumen output of 100 000 lumens.

SELUX Fixtures Receive Dark-Sky Friendly Certification
Formed in 1988, the International Dark-Sky Association is the authoritative voice on light pollution. Its Fixture Seal of Approval (FSA) program has been developed for dark sky friendly fixtures. The goal of this program is to create a more pleasant nighttime environment, decrease light pollution and energy consumption, and to reclaim dark, natural night skies for the benefit of all.All submissions go through a rigorous photometric testing process before they can be considered IDA certified.
The certified "Dark-Sky Friendly" fixtures include:
- Beta Laterne
- Beta Pendel-Kandelaber
- Quadro H0
- Quadro H2
- Saturn Cutoff
- Discera
- Sonne
- Stradex 500
- Stradex 700
- Vektor1
- Vektor 2
